Privacy Policy

Perch is a Mac app that shows your AI agents in your MacBook's notch. This policy explains what Perch collects, what stays on your Mac and the choices you have. In this policy, "Perch", "we" and "us" mean the makers of Perch.

The short version

  • Your agent sessions, messages and chats stay on your Mac. They never pass through our servers.
  • Your Perch account stores your email, name, a securely hashed password and your notch and display preferences.
  • We don't use analytics, ads or trackers, and we don't sell your data.
  • You can delete your account at any time in Perch → Settings → Account.

Your Perch account

When you create an account we store your email address, the name you enter, your password (hashed, never in plain text) and the preferences Perch syncs between your Macs: notch and display settings, which agents are turned on and which one is selected. Safety settings, per-session choices, folders and API keys are never synced.

Accounts are run on Supabase, which hosts our account service in the United States (AWS us-east-1). We use your email only to sign you in and to send account emails you ask for, such as a password reset.

What stays on your Mac

  • Agent sessions. Perch reads the session files Claude Code, Codex and the Grok CLI keep on your Mac to show them in the notch. They aren't uploaded anywhere by Perch.
  • Your messages. When you reply, Perch runs the provider's own tool on your Mac or calls the provider's API directly. Your message goes from your Mac to that provider, under their terms and privacy policy.
  • API keys. Keys you add are stored in your Mac's Keychain.
  • Chats made with an API key are saved in Perch's folder on your Mac.
  • Sign-ins to Claude, ChatGPT and xAI happen on those providers' own pages through their official tools. Perch never sees those passwords.

Grok Bot

If you connect Grok Bot, Perch uses macOS Accessibility to read your Bots and their latest messages from the Grok Bot app's window, and to type the messages you send. If you allow Screen Recording, Perch captures each Bot's avatar from the Grok Bot sidebar. All of this happens on your Mac and is stored only there. Perch never reads Grok Bot's stored data or credentials.

Updates and this website

Perch checks this website once a day for updates. Like any website, our host (Vercel) receives your IP address and basic request details when Perch checks for updates or you visit the site. We don't add cookies or analytics to this site. When you download Perch, we count the download along with the version and your country, which is worked out from your IP address; the address itself isn't stored.

Deleting your data

Delete your account in Perch → Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and synced preferences from our servers and clears Perch's data for that account on your Mac. Uninstalling Perch doesn't affect your Claude Code, Codex or Grok sessions, which belong to those tools.

Children

Perch isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes and contact
